About this grant
The Flint Institute of Music (FIM) operates in the Dort Music Center on the Flint Cultural Center campus. FIM provides instrumental instruction and performance opportunities to Flint area residents, as well as dance, voice and choral instruction, and a wide variety of outreach activities for K-12 school children through the Flint School of Performing Arts. Funding will enable FIM to continue providing instruction and performance services, particularly to local K-12 school students in the Flint area.FIM, which began with the founding of the Flint Community Music Association in 1917, annually provides instruction to nearly 3,000 students, along with music and dance performances to approximately 205,000 Flint area residents.
