About this grant

Since 1999, there have been a number of local efforts to create, improve and sustain anti-racism programs and dialogue in Flint. Several programs, funded through local grantmaking, have partnered with community agencies to develop a more coordinated community approach to addressing racism. As a result of these activities, Flint Area Citizens to End Racism (FACTER) has emerged.Funding will support the operation of FACTER by providing basic needs such as telephones, postage and administrative expenses, in addition to support for community-wide meetings and forums and the opportunity for both staff and volunteers to receive ongoing training. The Flint Public Library, founded in 1851, is as a critical resource for children, students and adults in Genesee County.
