About this grant

In 1998, Formative Evaluation Research Associates began studying alternative workplace giving that focused on issues and causes not well-represented by United Way. The overall study was aimed at understanding and improving alternative fund practice.Funding will support the second phase of the study which will focus on soliciting information from corporations. The goal of the second phase is to answer questions about corporate practices and employee attitudes toward workplace giving. Research will be used to inform the field about the current state and potential of alternative workplace giving and to understand and strengthen workplace giving for alternative funds. The first phase focused on soliciting information from all alternative funds affiliated with the National Alliance for Choice in Giving to better understand and document workplace-giving practices. This phase included the collection of basic information by surveying the entire sample of alternative funds and interviewing a sample of funds about trends, best practices and how to enhance campaign effectiveness.
