About this grant

The program goal is to enable donors to provide leadership and practical support for civil society actors addressing the global trend of closing space for civil society. The Funders’ Initiative for Civil Society, a project of Global Dialogue, provides stakeholders with research, information and support to coordinate and align their grants and strategies. During the previous grant period, the initiative mapped systemic drivers of closing civic space, supported funders in its efforts to counter the closing space and developed a framework on civic space and securitization. During this grant period, the initiative will focus on continuing to help funders respond to global repressive trends by focusing on narrative building and securitization. The initiative is a collaborative program managed by the grantee and directly involves a range of private funders. Founded in the United Kingdom in 2006, Global Dialogue implements programs supporting human rights, social change and funder collaboration around the world.
