About this grant

The program goal is to advance efforts to increase people-centered access to justice. The Hague Institute for Innovation of Law will work through three main avenues to identify new ways of addressing people’s justice needs. Through justice needs surveys and other research, the grantee will: 1) produce informative and actionable data; 2) support ongoing justice innovations to support scalable models of service delivery on justice issues; and 3) support transformative efforts of various jurisdictions to help recast justice system processes and procedures. In 2019-20 the grantee completed three extensive justice needs surveys in Morocco, Mali and Fiji. In addition, the grantee supported nearly 50 justice entrepreneurs in the development of accessible and affordable justice innovations and produced a benchmark report identifying the cost-effectiveness of people-centered justice reforms. Established in 2005, the Hague Institute for Innovation of Law seeks to find innovative solutions to justice problems around the world.
