About this grant

This grant provides support for the Philanthropy Panel Study, an ongoing research study managed by the Indiana University’s Lilly Family School of Philanthropy that collects detailed data on the giving and volunteering habits of several thousand American households over time and over generations. It is conducted in conjunction with the University of Michigan Institute for Social Research’s Panel Study of Income Dynamics, which has surveyed families since 1968 and to which a philanthropy component was added in 2001. The dataset produced by the study is the best, most accurate resource for measuring giving and volunteering in the U.S. and is used extensively by researchers. The Lilly Family School of Philanthropy at Indiana University was founded in 2012. The grantee is dedicated to improving philanthropy by training and empowering students and practitioners to be innovators and leaders who create positive and lasting change in the world.
