About this grant
The National Network of Sector Partners works to increase the use of the sector strategy by institutions involved in workforce and economic development. The objective is two-fold: to promote better outcomes for both the low-income and low-wage individuals currently served by the system and to increase the productivity and competitiveness of the industries targeted.Multiyear funding will support goals that include building a base of 400 participating sector initiatives by the end of 2005; providing technical assistance to improve the effectiveness of organizations conducting sector initiatives; creating a speaker and workshop brokering operation to bring effective training modules to conferences and training institutes; establishing sector initiatives in the policy environment; engaging a team of lead employers and employer associations committed to the expansion of sector initiatives; and diversifying funding sources currently being used to support national sector initiatives.Since its creation in 1999, the network has increased membership to 150 practitioners; informed public policy on the benefits of sectoral employment programs; hosted an annual conference; and provided individual technical assistance and sub-grant support to numerous workforce development programs.
