About this grant

The International Center for Not-for-Profit Law supports civil society development globally by helping to create favorable legal and regulatory frameworks for the nonprofit sector in countries around the world. Since 1997, the center has had an Internet service program that provides unique legal resources to those concerned about the health and vitality of nonprofit organizations and the legal environment for their operations. Multiyear funding will support two part-time positions, a programmer for the online database and managing editor of the online journal. The quarterly online journal addresses current and emerging issues affecting civil society and provides an important forum for scholars, parliamentarians, lawyers and other professionals concerned with legal aspects of civil society. The database serves as an online library that provides access to the center’s collection of documents covering nonprofit laws, tax legislation and additional legal documents. The center, established in 1993, has offices on four continents and staff that includes 40 full- and part-time lawyers. Internet services include a Web site, a database and online library, a newswire service on recent legal developments and the online publication of the "International Journal of Not-for-Profit Law."
