About this grant

This grant provides continued support to the International Society for Third-Sector Research, a global membership association with nearly 600 members from over 85 countries that encourages, supports, and provides academic legitimacy to the study of civil society around the world. Founded in 1992 and based at Johns Hopkins University, the society’s major accomplishments include convening biennial international research conferences; publishing special reports, conference working papers, and a scholarly journal; and convening regional meetings of research networks in Africa, Europe, Latin America and the Caribbean, and Asia and the Pacific. In 2011-2012, activities will include organizing regional network meetings in Argentina, Indonesia, Japan, and South Africa; building research capacity in severely underserved and underrepresented countries and regions; fostering an international network of academic research center directors and graduate students; expanding the association’s Web site and continuing to publish a journal; and holding a biennial international conference in mid-2012 in Italy.
