About this grant
Multiyear funding will enable Midwest Academy to expand its training for community organizers. The academy is a national training center for organizers and community leaders. Its mission is to advance the goals of grassroots leadership development, coalition building, social analysis and democratic participation. Project goals include continuing to recruit and train young organizers through a partnership with the U.S. Student Association; expanding the number of Spanish-language training sessions; and recruiting and hiring a development director.Recent accomplishments included expanding training programs, especially those aimed at young adults; establishing training sessions for Spanish speakers; building the training team; translating curriculum into Spanish; creating cross-cultural training programs with organizers from Australia, Canada, Israel, New Zealand and Puerto Rico.
