About this grant

The Flint area National Council on Alcoholism and Addictions has been located in the same building for the past 50 years. However, due to environmental concerns, the building will be torn down and the council will need to relocate. Taking community feedback into consideration, a committee of displaced agency representatives have decided on a community office complex that will allow several agencies, that often serve the same clients, to be located in a central area and provide easy access to care. Funding will offset relocation and renovation costs. The move to a centralized location will meet the needs of the council and create additional benefits of financial viability, elimination of transportation barriers, and minimum service disruption. The council was established in 1952 as a general information center on alcohol abuse. Its mission is to reduce the incidence and prevalence of alcoholism and other drug addictions through education, proper diagnosis, ongoing recovery and relapse prevention.
