About this grant
This grant will enable the Institute for Youth, Education, and Families of the National League of Cities to engage more mayors, council members and other municipal officials in building citywide afterschool systems by taking advantage of promising practices and lessons learned. Specific project goals include providing intensive technical assistance to the existing and new cities; enhancing, strengthening and expanding the Afterschool Policy Advisors Network of municipal leaders; and convening a second National City Afterschool Summit to bring together municipal leaders across the nation. The institute also will provide support to the Afterschool Technical Assistance Collaborative by connecting municipal leaders to the statewide afterschool networks.Founded in 1924, the National League of Cities is the membership organization of municipal governments and state municipal leagues in the U.S. Members include more than 17,000 municipalities, which constitute 88 percent of all municipalities in the U.S.
