About this grant

This grant to Nebraska Children and Families Foundation will enable the Nebraska Statewide Afterschool Network to increase the availability and expansion of college and career exploration, financial literacy or college affordability planning by enhancing quality afterschool and summer learning opportunities for underserved youth. This project will support the grantee to: 1) increase the number of college savings accounts and participation in financial literacy initiatives among youth and families; 2) create a scalable model to mitigate barriers associated with college affordability planning; and 3) expand the work with new and existing stakeholders to address the critical gap of youth and families engaged in financial literacy and career exploration. The grantee will share promising practices and resources with the Mott-funded 50 State Networks and Mizzen by Mott to enhance college and career readiness initiatives in afterschool programs nationally. The grantee is also a recipient of funding from the Advancing Afterschool portfolio as a statewide afterschool network. This grant will support the Nebraska Children and Families Foundation to build upon a specific opportunity within their state to leverage additional resources and partnerships for afterschool and summer learning programs.
