About this grant
The program goal is to combat corruption, reduce poverty levels, and promote sustainable development in Montenegro by supporting good governance and public participation in decisionmaking processes. To this end, the Network for the Affirmation of NGO Sector – MANS will raise awareness about mechanisms for public participation in decisionmaking processes, build the capacity of the nonprofit sector to facilitate public participation, and monitor implementation and enforcement of anticorruption regulations. During 2006-2008, the grantee successfully challenged the ability of government officials to simultaneously hold other public offices, and through public awareness-raising and joint advocacy campaigns with international organizations, the grantee helped to force the government to develop and adopt an action plan for the implementation of the National Program for Combating Corruption and Organized Crime. The network is a leading organization in the fields of advocacy, monitoring, and capacity building in Montenegro and is based in Podgorica.
