About this grant
The program goal is to combat corruption, reduce poverty levels, and promote sustainable development in Montenegro by supporting good governance and public participation in decisionmaking processes. To this end, the Network for the Affirmation of NGO Sector – MANS will raise awareness about mechanisms for public participation in decisionmaking processes, build the capacity of the nonprofit sector to facilitate public participation, and monitor implementation and enforcement of anticorruption regulations. During 2008-2010, the grantee helped to bring about important changes in policies and practices of key institutions and in public awareness of governance issues through activities to: 1) mobilize and engage young people and other community groups to fight corruption: 2) provide free legal services to over 700 citizens; 3) direct monitoring and advocacy campaigns; 4) conduct joint projects with investigative journalists; and 5) engage in strategic litigation. The network is a leading organization in the fields of advocacy, monitoring, and capacity building in Montenegro and is based in Podgorica.
