About this grant
Founded in 1977, Northeast-Midwest Institute is a nonpartisan, Washington, D.C.-based nonprofit organization dedicated to promoting economic and environmental vitality for the Northeastern and Midwestern regions of the United States. With prior support from Mott, the grantee provided opportunities for federal decision makers, regional stakeholders, and other interested parties to jointly identify and promote regional Great Lakes priorities related to water quality, water conservation, habitat protection and restoration, and invasive species. With this renewal grant, the grantee will continue this work by undertaking research and policy analyses and translating and disseminating relevant scientific data. A new component will provide new members of Congress coming to Washington in 2019 with orientation, background, and support on a host of critical Great Lakes issues.
