About this grant

This grant will provide support to Olivet College for the renovation of and endowment for the Ruth Rawlings Mott Auditorium, which is located adjacent to the Charles Stewart Mott Academic Center. With seating for 400, the 8,316 square foot auditorium is the only indoor lecture hall facility of its type on campus. In recent years, the college has managed with the auditorium’s limited amenities, but the condition of the facility is deteriorating. The seats, lighting, heating and cooling system, sound system, carpet, and roof are in need of replacement. Renovations to the auditorium will provide state-of-the-art upgrades to be used for some of the college’s most prominent events, such as the President’s Opening Convocation, Honor’s Convocation, the Lecture and Symposium Series, new student orientation, as well as speakers brought in by various academic departments. Founded in 1844, Olivet College is a private, four-year liberal arts institution located in south central Michigan.
