About this grant
Political, social and economic reform has been challenging in Romania. There have been substantial degrees of disappointment with all democratically elected governors since 1989. Links between citizens and their elected officials are especially weak.Multiyear funding will support efforts to build the capacity of Pro Democracy Association (PDA) to involve citizens in all levels of decisionmaking processes. Objectives include strengthening the network of 24 PDA clubs throughout Romania; building the capacity of the national office in Bucharest and seven regional offices to support the activities of all 24 clubs; raising PDA’s profile; and developing effective ways to engage citizens in the decisionmaking process in 28 Romanian counties.PDA, a Romanian nonprofit organization, was created in 1990 to stimulate citizen involvement in public decisionmaking and legislative processes.
