About this grant

In 1998, Pro Vobis Volunteer Center developed the first volunteer center in Romania to promote volunteerism throughout Romania by supporting regional volunteer centers.Multiyear funding will support objectives that include consolidating the existing network of volunteer centers; promoting the development of 10 additional regional volunteer centers; and developing tools and mechanisms to encourage and build volunteerism in Romania. Key activities include facilitating networking and exchange of information and experience among the volunteer centers; providing training and technical assistance to the network; developing the network Web site; hosting an annual national conference on volunteerism; and launching a distance-learning program on volunteerism to train a network of 10 leaders capable of providing volunteer management training.During the past two years, achievements included establishing common standards and codes of ethics for all centers; hosting a national conference on volunteerism; developing training programs for volunteer centers; and promoting volunteerism by granting awards for significant volunteer contributions.
