About this grant
In order to improve the performance of the workforce development field, Working Ventures targets areas in which practitioners must focus: predicting and understanding employers’ demands; monitoring labor market changes; focusing on employment retention and advancement; and developing long-term ties with participants.Funding will support activities that include publishing up to eight reports and guides on various topics; offering three-day workshops; exploring the feasibility of piloting an audio conference series entitled, "The Recession: Voices from Practitioners;" conducting one-day workshops; issuing a request for proposals targeted toward community colleges; launching a membership campaign; and developing an individualized practitioner assessment initiative on retention and advancement with five New York practitioners to determine the feasibility of providing customized assistance.Activities during the past year included publishing three reports and producing a training video; conducting two three-day workshops and five one-day training sessions; and issuing two requests for proposals.
