About this grant

"The World" is a weekday, one-hour news program based on the idea that Americans benefit from international news and insights. Since its launch in 1996, the program has established an international reporting network; developed expertise in explaining global current events; and provided distinctive coverage to a large and growing audience.Multiyear funding will enable the program to continue to cover international issues and help Americans understand how they affect and are affected by global events. Program subjects will include sustainable development, energy policies and consumption, democracy and the Islamic world."The World" airs on 144 stations nationwide, including all of the top 10 metropolitan markets. It broadcasts to approximately 1.8 U.S. listeners weekly and is available to listeners in more than 100 countries worldwide. In addition, an estimated 5,500 people from an average of 44 countries visit its Web site on a weekly basis.
