About this grant

The Research Foundation of the City University of New York was created to expedite and provide oversight of the management of funds obtained by faculty of the City University of New York. The International Fellows Program on Community Philanthropy is operated by the Center on Philanthropy and Civil Society within the Graduate Center of the City University of New York. Each year, the program offers emerging young leaders and seasoned community foundation practitioners from foreign countries opportunities to learn about community foundations through an intensive graduate program of research, seminars, conferences, and mentoring. Since its inception in 1989, 208 individuals from 63 countries have participated in the program. The grantee’s program has sparked the creation of new philanthropic ventures and research resources in places as diverse as Australia, Colombia, India, Mongolia, Nepal, South Korea, and Ukraine. This grant increase will enable the grantee to carry out research and evaluation reflecting on the 30 years of achievement of the International Fellows Program and strategizing for its future.
