About this grant

Through its resource center located in Nizhni Novgorod and four regional offices, the Sluzhenye Association offers a wide range of services aimed at building the capacity of non-governmental organizations (NGOs), strengthening the nonprofit sector, developing local philanthropy and establishing effective cross-sectoral partnerships.Multiyear funding will enable the association to strengthen the capacities of local NGOs to meet community needs and establish effective partnerships with local governments, businesses and mass media; and secure NGO participation in local decisionmaking processes and philanthropy development in the region. Activities will include restructuring to a decentralized network of independent regional NGO support centers; providing training, consulting and information to local NGOs; and promoting volunteerism.Recent activities included providing more than 1,000 consultations to local NGOs; conducting quarterly training courses for groups of 20 NGO managers; establishing an NGO Leaders’ Club; and publishing a monthly news bulletin on regional NGO activities.
