About this grant

The Social Justice Initiative was established in 2013 to contribute to building a South Africa characterized by peace, prosperity, and stability. Its vision is the creation and preservation of a just and fair society based on the democratic principles provided for in the country’s Constitution. The grantee seeks to address the financial crisis facing the social justice sector by increasing awareness of social justice causes among wealthy South Africans and encouraging them to fund programs that advance human rights and social justice. Past support assisted the grantee to unlock support from wealthy South Africans for social justice causes and matching funders with deserving causes. This grant will enable the grantee to assist social justice organizations in South Africa to find new sources of income to ensure their sustainability. It will continue to focus on wealthy individuals as a source of long-term funding.
