About this grant

Founded in 1997, the Youth Transition Funders Group has expanded into a national network of more than 150 grantmakers from across the country working to improve the transition of youth into adult life. The purpose of the group is to strengthen the effectiveness of grantmakers through the exploration of successful program models and strategies, the sharing of lessons learned within the field and the identification of new investment opportunities in the field.Third-year funding will support objectives that include launching a dissemination and outreach campaign to inform the foundation community about the vulnerable youth population and enlist new members; continuing to develop and improve the Web site; organizing a series of member conference calls on a variety of topics; conducting two small group meetings to support coordinated grantmaking and relationship building within the foundation community; exploring effective and creative mechanisms for advancing collaboration and knowledge development; and mentoring new and emerging foundations in their work to serve vulnerable youth.Accomplishments during the past year included convening an annual meeting of funders; developing and publishing a document describing the vulnerable youth population and efforts that effectively address their needs; sponsoring a roundtable session at Grantmakers for Children, Youth & Families; and supporting foundations as they develop strategies for vulnerable youth.
