About this grant
Since 1997, Tlhavhama has been working to build strong nonprofits that are able to engage effectively with poverty and development initiatives in Limpopo (formerly the Northern Province). Its focus over the years has been on organizing community-led development programs and facilitating partnerships between nonprofits and government to ensure effective delivery.Multiyear funding will enable Tlhavhama to pursue activities that include offering an eight-month modular training and capacity-building course for new community-based organizations; organizing a community-based organization leaders program; providing a general training program; and participating in the Strengthening Capacities for Transforming Relationships and Exercising Rights (SCAPE) Project, funded by Dfid through CARE South Africa.Accomplishments during the past two years included increasing organizational membership to 60 organizations; establishing a credible presence in the Limpopo province; developing a partnership with the National Development Agency (NDA) to provide capacity building and training to community-based organizations that have applied for NDA funding; and implementing the SCAPE Project in Limpopo.
