About this grant
The program goal is to strengthen the Ukrainian Philanthropists Forum’s capacity to develop a professional philanthropic sector in Ukraine. During 2015-2016, the grantee worked successfully in campaigning for the introduction of transparent and cost-effective giving via text message. It held over 30 capacity building events throughout the country, while also raising the profile of philanthropy through two international conferences and the increasingly popular National Ranking of Philanthropists. The grantee’s focus in 2017-2018 will be to provide professional support for volunteer initiatives, charitable organizations, and philanthropic institutions; advocate for a policy environment for philanthropic and volunteer activity that conforms to European standards; and increase its capacity to act as an informational and professional hub for mass media, volunteers, and charitable institutions on current trends of philanthropic sector development. Established in 2004, the Ukrainian Philanthropists Forum’s strategic priorities are to: 1) advocate for a favorable legal and fiscal framework for charitable activity; 2) increase public trust toward philanthropy in society; and 3) build the professional capacity of the philanthropic sector.
