About this grant

Since 1998, the United Way of Genesee County has been operating Bridges to the Future, a before and afterschool program that encourages positive youth development through safe, accessible and challenging activities. The program is a unique partnership involving city and county schools and 35 nonprofit partners. Currently, the program is being implemented in more than 100 schools in 21 school districts, serving about 10,000 students annually.Third-year funding will enable the United Way to sustain activities at each site, as well as training, marketing, service coordination and program enhancement. The program includes tutoring, recreation, leadership development, entrepreneurship, career exploration, and educational and cultural field trips.
