About this grant
Budget deficits have forced the state of Michigan to withdraw support from the Bridges to the Future program for the 2004 fiscal year. Funding cuts will seriously impact the level of programming currently being provided through the program and will disrupt the high-quality, afterschool care that many Genesee County families depend on.Funding will provide assistance to enable the United Way to sustain a full range of afterschool services through the end of the 2004-05 school year; and to work with Genesee County school districts to develop a plan to sustain the program over the long term. The program, named the Outstanding After-School Program in 2003 by the National Community Education Association, serves 13,000 kindergarten through ninth-grade students at 117 sites in 21 school districts.
