About this grant
This grant will enable the University of Michigan-Flint, via the Office of Educational Opportunity Initiatives, to continue the Committed to Excellence and Opportunity Program for students from the Flint Community, Beecher Community, and Westwood Heights school districts. The goal is to maintain a pipeline-to-college preparatory program that equips disadvantaged youth from low-income families and minorities with the knowledge and skills necessary to enter and succeed in college and career. The program offers academic enrichment courses, leadership development workshops, project-based learning, and college visits and cultural excursions that help students and caretakers make informed decisions about post-secondary education and youth’s long-term goals.
