Centre on African Philanthropy and Social Investment - Community Philanthropy Literature
The University of the Witwatersrand was established to provide high-quality, internationally competitive education, founded on high academic standards, cutting-edge research, public engagement and productive partnerships with leading institutions throughout the world. The Centre on African Philanthropy and Social Investment, based at the University’s business school, was established to bridge the gap in the study, research and practice of philanthropy and social investment in Africa. Since its establishment in 2018, the center has developed academic programs on philanthropy and social investment in Africa, conducted research on various topics in different countries across the continent and facilitated discussions about the role of philanthropy in the continent. This grant will enable the center to produce new literature about community philanthropy and community philanthropy organizations in Malawi, Mali, Mozambique, Rwanda and Sierra Leone.
