About this grant
The West Coast Community Foundation was founded in 2001 to support community development in the West Coast district of the Western Cape Province of South Africa. It provides grants, conducts training on various topics related to community development, and facilitates networking opportunities for community-based organizations in this area. With previous Mott support, the grantee introduced an asset-based approach to encourage communities to use available resources to drive their own development and be able to hold government accountable. This renewal grant will support the foundation to continue providing training and making grants to community-based organizations in the West Coast. The foundation will also continue building networks and strengthening relations with wealthier communities to access local resources and further strengthen local communities through the asset-based, community-driven approach.
