About this grant

The non-governmental sector in Bulgaria has developed substantially during the past 12 years due to external factors affecting the sector and changes in the political, economic and social environment. However, there has been a lack of data and analysis on the development of civil society and non-governmental organizations (NGOs) in Bulgaria. Funding will support a comprehensive analysis of the current state of the NGO sector in Bulgaria. Activities will include establishing an advisory and reference group of NGO representatives from throughout Bulgaria; building the capacity of 10 practicing researchers to lead the review process; conducting research and conducting interviews in 28 towns; sharing preliminary analysis of the results; publishing and disseminating the results in Bulgarian and English; and facilitating at least five workshops to discuss the results of the review.Workshop for Civic Initiatives Foundation, established in 2001, builds on the activities of the Charity Know How NGO Development Program in Bulgaria.
