About this grant
The World Resources Institute was founded in 1982 to provide information, ideas and solutions for global environmental problems. With previous Mott support, the grantee has tailored its Energy Access Explorer tool for the unique needs of Tanzania. Using the tool and stakeholder engagement, the grantee has supported the development of integrated energy plans and strategies at both national and sub-national levels that define clear roles for grid and off-grid electrification. With this renewal grant, the World Resources Institute will continue to use its research and convening capabilities to facilitate dialogue between national agencies, local governments and private developers in implementing integrated electrification efforts in Tanzania. This grant renewal will also support expanded efforts in other African countries to help civil society organizations effectively engage in national-level integrated energy planning.
