About this grant

The program goal is to engage young people in decision-making processes in order to promote and strengthen the rule of law, accountability, and transitional justice in Croatia and the Western Balkan region. Through a variety of activities, the Youth Initiative for Human Rights – Croatia will focus on building the capacity of young people to address these issues and on increasing dialogue among young people from all sides of the conflicts in the former Yugoslavia. Specifically, during the grant period the grantee will advocate for accountability and responsibility for war crimes and human rights abuses; foster a culture of truth-telling and acknowledgement; promote justice for victims; and encourage coexistence and respect for religious, ethnic, and other differences. The grantee will also strengthen its capacities by hiring a new executive director and increasing project management skills of other staff, diversifying income sources through new partnerships and social entrepreneurship, expanding programs to local communities, and developing regional programming. The grantee is based in Zagreb.
