About this grant
The goal of East Africa Philanthropy Network is to support the growth of the philanthropy ecosystem in East Africa by connecting various philanthropic organizations in the region and promoting an enabling environment for philanthropy. Established in 2003 to bring together foundations, trusts and other philanthropic organizations to build communities of practice, advance learning and support the growth of professionalized philanthropy in the region. To achieve this, the grantee convenes members, produces research that expands knowledge in the sector and provides thought leadership on policies that enhance philanthropy. Previous support from the Mott Foundation enabled the grantee to continue to produce research, convene the sector and champion causes that advance philanthropy in the region. This grant will enable East Africa Philanthropy Network to: 1) conduct research on topics relevant to its members; 2) convene members to discuss sector-specific and field-wide topics; 3) lead initiatives that protect and strengthen civic space in the region; and 4) raise the profile of the sector in the region and globally.
