About this grant

The program goal is to promote a more favorable enabling environment for Mexican civil society. Started in 2021, a coalition of Mexican organizations and networks was created to safeguard and promote the right of citizens to participate through organized civil society on matters of public interest. In the pervious grant period, the program solidified its structure and programs, updated its name and grew to 30 organizations, reaching approximately 2,500 civil society organizations across Mexico. Centro Mexicano para la Filantropia, A.C. will continue to serve as a platform to support and expand this coalition. In the next grant period, activities will include: 1) mapping of existing efforts to support civil society; 2) regular national and regional convenings; 3) public awareness-raising of the role and value of civil society in Mexico; 4) and promotion of civil society’s right to participate in public interest matters. Founded in 1988, Centro Mexicano para la Filantropia, A.C. promotes the philanthropic and socially responsible participation of Mexican citizens, organizations and companies to achieve a more equitable and prosperous society.
