About this grant
This renewal grant will allow the Afterschool Alliance to continue its efforts to ensure that young people and families — particularly those in underserved communities — will have access to high-quality afterschool and summer learning and enrichment opportunities that inspire achievement in school and life. The grantee has long served as the national leader for the afterschool field, works with federal policymakers to advance opportunities for afterschool and summer learning programs and ensures that exemplary program models inform national, state and local education and youth policy initiatives. The grantee seeks to continue to: 1) lead the field in meeting the needs of young people in afterschool programs; 2) serve as an information source on afterschool programs and resource for policymakers, programs and educators; 3) be an effective voice in its efforts to expand quality afterschool programs and innovative models; and 4) increase access to research and data on the effectiveness of quality afterschool programs. The Afterschool Alliance seeks to work with the 50 State Afterschool Network to support afterschool expansion through federal, state and local afterschool initiatives.
