About this grant

This grant will provide general purposes support to the Asylum Seeker Advocacy Project as it continues to supply legal resources and information to immigrants, improve the systems that serve immigrants and build a virtual community of asylum seekers in the United States. During the previous grant period, the grantee conducted impact litigation that resulted in long-lasting changes to work permit regulations and grew its network by over 300,000 additional asylum seekers. During this upcoming grant period, the grantee will respond to the ongoing needs of its members and expand its legal support systems and digital offerings. Asylum Seeker Advocacy Project members live in every U.S. state and territory and come from over 175 countries. Considering members’ asylum-seeking children, the organization now serves 950,000 asylum seekers — or 1 in 360 individuals living in the United States.
