About this grant
The project goal is to promote digital rights and inclusion in Africa by raising awareness of the threats to digital security and advancing an inclusive, innovation-friendly and rights-respecting digital policy environment. Over the past two years, Paradigm Initiative: 1) produced in-depth research on the state of digital rights and inclusion in Africa; 2) convened internet freedom activists and other stakeholders; 3) supported efforts to advance digital rights in specific countries across Africa; and 4) represented the region in international digital rights platforms. This grant will support the grantee to continue producing research that highlights cross-cutting issues that affect digital rights and internet freedom in Africa. In addition, the grantee will host its annual convening of digital rights activists to forge relationships and shape digital rights policy on the continent. The grantee was established in 2008 to connect underserved African youth to digital opportunities while ensuring their rights are protected. Headquartered in Nigeria, Paradigm Initiative has offices in Cameroon, Kenya, Senegal, Zambia and Zimbabwe.
