About this grant

The Pathfinders for Peaceful, Just and Inclusive Societies program of New York University is a multi-stakeholder platform that seeks to promote solutions to overcome the global lack of access to justice. In 2024-25, the University, through its Pathfinders program, cemented its position as a co-secretariat of the Justice Action Coalition, a partnership of over 20 member states and civil society partners that promote people-centered justice. In this role, the grantee helped advocate for new models of financing justice and communicating about the need for justice in society. The University also helped launch the African Alliance for People-Centered Justice, while continuing to support of its Ibero-American counterpart. In 2026-27, the grantee will continue its core activities in support of people-centered justice. These activities will include: 1) enhancing its role within the Justice Action Coalition, 2) strengthening regional alliances for justice, 3) piloting the Justice Financing Framework with select countries; and 4) producing new analytical research and policy briefs. Additionally, the University will pilot new activities including the fostering of an Asia-Pacific Alliance for People-Centered Justice identifying new strategies for bridging the justice gap and developing new justice partnerships at sub-national levels.
