About this grant
The goal of this project is to support organized civil society participation to increase peace, inclusion and access to justice globally. The Transparency, Accountability and Participation Network, a project of the Accountability Lab, will mobilize its membership of 250 civil society organizations for coordinated action around the implementation of Sustainable Development Goal 16, with its focus on peaceful, just and inclusive societies. During this grant period, work will focus on: 1) mobilizing and engaging civil society partners to foster a global advocacy network focused on advancing Sustainable Development Goal 16; 2) sharing and learning to develop knowledge, practice and public understanding around efforts to promote peaceful, just and inclusive societies; and 3) collecting and developing compelling stories of civil society promoting peaceful, just and inclusive societies in support of a positive narrative. In 2024-2025, the grantee produced a series of practical resources for civil society actors working to promote participation and accountability in addressing Sustainable Development Goal 16, particularly around key United Nations policy convenings. The grantee further sought to strengthen regional network members and worked to ensure that underrepresented voices were heard at the United Nations and related events. Founded in 2012, the Accountability Lab finds new ways to shift societal norms, solve intractable challenges and build “unlikely networks” for change.
