About this grant
With this grant, the Genesee Intermediate School District will manage facility improvements to the former Summerfield Community School, which is currently being used as an early childhood education center owned by Flint Community Schools and operated by the intermediate school district. Additional repairs and upgrades will include: 1) updating student restrooms; 2) replacing doors and flooring; 3) upgrading classroom cabinets, countertops, sinks and faucets; 4) replacing soffits, lighting and mansard roof panels; and 5) expanding the playground and fencing. Together, the updates will lead to improved building and yard aesthetics and an enhanced learning environment for the young children and their families at the center.
