About this grant

This project supports the World Wildlife Fund, a global conservation organization with a robust presence in the Amazon region, to expand and replicate renewable energy access projects in the Amazon. With previous Mott Foundation support, the grantee helped communities in Bolivia and Colombia install solar systems that lowered costs and emissions, improved livelihoods and promoted women’s participation. With renewed support, the grantee will build on these pilots, expand awareness and strengthen advocacy to speed adoption of renewable systems. The World Wildlife Fund will also share data and lessons learned with authorities and local governments to encourage renewable energy access and inform territorial development planning.
