About this grant
With this grant, Communities First will renovate the historic Masonic Temple building, which is located on South Saginaw Street in downtown Flint. The renovations will enable the building to be used once again for an array of public events. The grantee will host many of its events in the space and hire staff to promote and schedule events for community participation. The venue will also be available for rent for private events. A tenant will be sought to operate the newly renovated kitchen and restaurant on the building’s lower level, to once again serve Flint area residents and visitors. The mid-sized venue offered by the Masonic Temple is currently missing in Flint and will contribute to an improved quality of life and vibrancy of downtown Flint.
