Why it Matters

Job-training and -creation initiatives will allow Flint residents to have the same opportunities as any other Genesee County citizen to work in well-paying jobs and attain a high quality of life in a more sustainable community.

Our Approach

The Foundation maintains a priority of ensuring Flint residents benefit from economic activity in and near the city of Flint.

We work with nonprofits and community organizations to ensure Flint has a robust infrastructure that promotes a strong economic development environment. This includes: next-generation industrial manufacturing sites with high-density job options; local career training organizations that ensure Flint residents are positioned to work at these sites; and opportunities for local, state and national entities to collaborate for continued job growth.

We have one strategy to achieve our goals.

Supporting job creation in Flint and Genesee County to bolster economic development for residents and the community.

Our grant funding supports:

  • An environment in which advanced manufacturing sites in Flint and Genesee County serve as hubs for job growth and next-generation industry growth.
  • Hubs and local career-training organizations that prepare Flint residents to work at the sites.
  • Local, state and national entities to collaborate for the continued growth of job opportunities.
