About this grant

The Urban Institute is a nonprofit research organization and think tank based in Washington, D.C., established in 1968 to enhance lives and strengthen communities through research, data analysis and policy recommendations. For more than a decade, the Institute has shown leadership in early wealth-building strategies, including children’s savings accounts. With support from the Mott Foundation, the Institute will serve as a national intermediary in the early wealth field, linking policy, practice and research to maximize the long-term effectiveness of savings strategies for children. Planned activities during the grant period include: 1) convening a national learning community; 2) conducting research; and 3) publishing practical guidance to ensure insights from the learning community benefit the broader sector.
