About this grant
The program goal is to support the field of community foundations in Mexico. Founded in 2011, Comunalia is an alliance of 17 Mexican community foundations focused on local development and strategic social investment. During 2025-27, Comunalia is pursuing the following objectives: 1) strengthening Mexican community foundations’ institutional capacities; 2) increasing its own resources and fostering new income streams for its members; 3) promoting the creation of new Mexican community foundations; 4) raising the profile of community foundations in Mexico; and 5) strengthening itself internally to increase its reach and impact. A challenge grant increase will provide an incentive for Comunalia to match funds from national Mexican resources, thereby reducing its dependence on international donors.
