About this grant
The project goal is to build better relationships between community paralegals and the formal legal fraternity in Africa. To this end, the International Commission of Jurists will continue to bridge the gap between the formal legal sector and those in the informal sector. It plans to engage the justice sector, including the training of judges and lawyers, support strategic litigation where necessary, and use media and communications tools to promote a greater understanding of primary justice. Past support has helped the grantee to organize convenings, engage African and global human rights treaty bodies, support litigation, publish research and train judges and lawyers. The International Commission of Jurists was established in 1952 with the purpose of promoting justice and human rights within the formal legal sector. Its headquarters are situated in Geneva, Switzerland.
