About this grant

Americans consistently and overwhelmingly support the goal of clean and abundant water for people and nature. Over the past decade, however, federal water protections have been weakened through a combination of congressional action, administrative rollbacks and court decisions. One response is to create new approaches to managing water resources at the state level. The U.S. Nature Initiative, a fiscally sponsored project of the California-based Resources Legacy Fund, provides the technical assistance and resources needed to achieve long-lasting conservation outcomes in the states. With partial support from the Mott Foundation, the initiative will work to secure public support for innovative water management practices addressing water quality, water supply, climate resilience and water infrastructure.
